From the beginning of April 2018 all remand prisoners for the West Mercia area have been taken to Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court. This includes defendants from Telford, Shrewsbury, Worcester, Redditch and Hereford. This was a decision opposed by Solicitors in Shropshire as local justice is being eroded and this new policy has led to prisoners being kept in custody for longer periods of time.
